Social mobility
More junior barristers gained their first degrees at the University of Western Australia (6) than at the University of the West of England (2). Birkbeck (1) and the Open University (3) have just four barristers between them who have their first degrees from those institutions.

The Oxford/Cambridge influence
Breakdown of institutions is in the stats page. Around 23% of chambers have no Oxford or Cambridge graduates/postgraduates (in this data set, where we have a sample).

There is a fair amount of evidence that some are "upgrading" their educational status by taking Oxford/Cambridge postgraduate courses. On occasion this is done after taking the BPTC.
