(1) May be sensitive to slot position in Xserve and/or position/type of other drives/caddies

(2) OEM drive with Apple logo

(3) Partitioned as 2x250GB

(4) Initially this drive was installed and failed to mount/show in Disk Utility in all caddies. Checking the specification on the drive it was found to be a SATA 3 (6Gbps) drive. Although the manual says that it is auto-negotiating and does not give settings for jumper pins, a jumper was splaced on the drive that corresponds to setting earlier Barracuda drives to 1.5Gbps - this allowed the drive to be used with the SAS caddy shown above. The drive was later tried again without the jumper, and this time it worked. Our conclusion is that this drive may or may not need the jumper, and may be sensitive to position, but we did not carry out further testing (because the drive was destined for a DVR, where it did require the jumper).
